Ancient Ocean is an exquisite batwing folder that continues a dramatic aquatic theme throughout the knife -- from the inlaid fossil brain coral to coral strands and detailed engraving of baculite patterns. All of these tell the story of a time when Western Montana was once covered in  waves.
The mosaic Damascus blade shows alternating complex radials designed to compliment the twisted pattern of fossil brain coral set into the handle. The damascus has been blued and shows off blue and gold tones. A faceted Montana garnet thumb stud provides easy opening of the blade.
A window frame on each side of the scales reveals an inlaid fossil brain coral. Entangled, carved seaweed tentacles travel over the window frames. The bolster area of the handle is engraved in a  fossil baculite. pattern. The straight shells have a dramatic pattern throughout. These fossils were found by Shane near his family ranch.
The screws throughout have been meticulously textured. The entire all-steel handle in framed with 24kt gold inlay. 15N20 carbon steel liners have been textured and heat blued. The backbar and spine have been engraved in a line of circles, similar to the baculite columns. The engraving continues on the inside of the backbar and is completed with Shane's mark, "ST". Silky smooth action with a very satisfying click upon engagement.
